New Program in Lean/Advanced Manufacturing Launches

The University of Texas San Antonio casts its net across the country and around the world with a new masters program in advanced manufacturing.

Lean practitioners and lean aspirants have a new option for skills improvement. The University of Texas San Antonio recently earned approval from a state education board to launch its master of science program in advanced manufacturing and enterprise engineering (AMEE).

"Our master's program in advanced manufacturing and enterprise engineering will prepare students for jobs in industry and academia by helping them understand how manufacturers operate and how those complex processes can be improved," said Efstathios Michaelides, professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in a statement. And the school isn’t limiting its sights to the San Antonio area. "Because the program addresses a niche specialty of mechanical engineering,” Michaelides went on, “we expect it will attract engineers at all levels from across the United States and the rest of the world."
