New Partnership Stresses Lean Product Design

Abstract:Two specialists in measuring the cost to manufacture products join forces to make manufacturers leaner and more profitable.

Two software and service providers have joined forces in an effort to create more robust margins for manufacturers challenged by global competition.

FACTON Inc., a purveyor of specialized software for reducing product costs, this week announced a partnership with consultancy Munro & Associates, Inc. and its software subsidiary, Design Profit, Inc. The combined offerings will give manufacturers the ability to "fine-tune communication and transparency between engineering, operations, and financial leadership," according to a joint statement. The cost analytics surfaced by the software give companies a better view into the profitability of their products.

Munro's lean product development software has attracted customers such as Boeing, Nikon, Medtronic, and Rubbermaid, among others. For more information on the partnership, see the press release.
