NetDimensions, a global provider of performance, knowledge, and learning management systems, recently released a portable version of its e-learning software.

The product, called mobile Enterprise Knowledge Platform (mEKP), is an off-line and online learning and performance management system that runs completely by means of a USB flash drive or other storage device and can be accessed via a Windows or Mac-based browser.

The mEKP is designed for disconnected workers in remote locations with restricted Internet connectivity, such as workers on offshore oil rigs, ships, and submarines. It is also well-suited for private- and public-sector employees working in places where bandwidth may be prohibitively expensive or where training materials, such as videos and simulations, are simply too large for practical network-based delivery, the company said.

As a portable e-learning environment, mEKP supports courseware and exam delivery, career development reviews, news articles, and end-user reporting, as well as access to technical documentation, maintenance and operating procedures, full-motion videos, high-bandwidth graphics, and other workforce content libraries.
