Microsoft Corp. today launched a program aimed at luring customers of rival NetSuite to switch from that company’s cloud-based ERP suite to one of Microsoft’s enterprise application platforms.
The move escalates what has become a running battle between the two companies, both of which target small- and medium-sized enterprise applications customers.
Recently, NetSuite launched a program intended to recruit resellers aligned with Microsoft and other vendors. And, earlier this week, NetSuite signed on with Google’s new Apps Marketplace, a move that is likely to involve integration between NetSuite’s applications and Google’s cloud-based productivity applications, such as Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Gmail, all of which compete with Microsoft’s flagship Office product line.
Microsoft is offering NetSuite customers a one-time incentive of $850 per user to switch to its Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, or Microsoft Dynamics SL ERP suites. The offer, Microsoft said, is available through June 25.
