MacDonald Humfrey, a United Kingdom-based company specializing in integration of automation and control systems, recently announced a partnership with Ubisense, a purveyor of real-time location systems (RTLS), to aid manufacturers operating in lean environments.
The offspring of the marriage is MachSense, a system that integrates RTLS capabilities with core lean processes, including kanban, pick-to-light, error-proofing, and line-side replenishment.
Mick MacDonald, CEO of MacDonald Humfrey, said in a statement that his company had been searching for a reliable tracking technology since it started its business in 1988, and that RTLS offers precision in challenging manufacturing environments. Among MacDonald Humfrey's client roster is a strong contingent of automotive manufacturers.
