MES research firm Industry Directions has merged with U.K.-based Cambashi Ltd. in the United Kingdom. As a result, leading MES and supply chain analyst Julie Fraser, formerly of Industry Directions, is now president of Cambashi Inc., a new Massachusetts-based wholly owned subsidiary of the U.K research and analysis firm.
Cambashi specializes in engineering and enterprise applications, and the infrastructure to enable industrial companies to use IT effectively. The new U.S. office will broaden the company's expertise to plant floor and supply chain research. The two research companies have been partners with very similar business models for many years. According to the company, the merger combines resources in a more formal way.
Cambashi research suggests that the next 10 years will be a time of re-investment in software applications. Mass customization, globalization, specialization, and outsourcing are leading to industry networks that combine resources to satisfy customers. New software applications will help manufacturers to operate these networks so that they add value for the customer and don't simply shift costs around the chain, according to Cambashi.
