One of the first examples of an end-to-end solution based on the OPC Foundation's Unified Architecture (OPC-UA) specification is now available. The product is a result of a partnership between ICONICS, a purveyor of Web-enabled HMI/SCADA and manufacturing intelligence software, and Kepware Technologies, a specialist in OPC device communications for automation.
Announced this week, the ICONICS OPC-UA KEPServer integrates visualization with a rich library of device connectivity. This OPC-UA, 64-bit solution handles several different I/O devices and is certified for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
OPC-UA takes existing OPC specifications and integrates them together leveraging Web services that are also used to deploy applications, such as visualization and manufacturing intelligence. OPC-UA is also used to move information between the plant and enterprise.
