Enterprise social media software vendor Socialtext Inc. has released a beta version of a new product that can be used to integrate its social software platform with enterprise applications.
Socialtext Connect can be used to build integrations between Socialtext’s social software platform and on-premise or cloud-based enterprise applications. The tool will enable access to enterprise applications by individuals who typically are not users, the company said.
“Until now, critical information, events, and processes have been locked in enterprise applications and only accessible to the people who use the particular application,” Socialtext CEO Eugene Lee said in a prepared statement. “With Socialtext Connect, events and streams from enterprise applications can be syndicated and fully leveraged, in real time, across the organization.”
The Socialtext social software platform, available as an on-premise or hosted set of applications, includes a Facebook-like social networking tool, Wiki-like knowledge-sharing spaces, dashboards, blogs, and a Twitter-like micro-blogging feature.
