Elan Software Systems, a provider of manufacturing execution system (MES) software, entered into a partnership agreement with Excellis Consulting Corp., a company specializing in business and integration services to FDA-regulated industries. Under the agreement, Excellis will provide consulting and implementation services to support Elan customers.

Elan’s XFP MES software covers a range of plant-related processes, from warehouse management, guided manufacturing, electronic batch record, and batch review, to finished product shipments. Also, an advanced operation process management (OPM) tool can be added to enable life sciences manufacturers to design, execute, control, monitor, analyze, and improve their processes. Because the scope of manufacturing execution projects can vary widely, XFP MES solutions are adaptable and scalable, enabling customers to pick and choose the processes they need to automate.

Elan’s software is installed in more than 120 sites worldwide. Customers include cough drop maker BestSweet Inc.; Genitope Corp., a biotechnology company; Merck; and Novartis.

“Excellis brings solid shop-floor expertise in process control, data historians, manufacturing intelligence, and manufacturing analytics, combined with robust manufacturing process knowledge of the FDA-regulated industries,” said Ken Strum, sales director at Elan Software, in a statement. “This partnership supports our growth objectives and enables us to accelerate our expansion internationally.”
