Against the backdrop of a global recall that will test Toyota’s reverse logistics acumen came the news this week that ATM maker Diebold has selected DEX Systems to supply software for Diebold’s reverse logistics processes.

Automating reverse logistics processes can be critical for a company such as Diebold, which has placed thousands of ATMs and other self-service products at customer locations around the world. Diebold will install DEX’s Reverse Logistics software to run the depot repair operation at its Global Service Logistics facility in North Canton, OH. DEX said in a statement that the software aims to increase visibility, control, and efficiencies throughout Diebold’s reverse logistics operation.

In the supply chain world, DEX is probably known best as a reverse logistics service provider. The company, founded in 1980, offers services such as warranty support and returns management to manufacturers of automotive electronics, medical technology, semiconductors, and computers. It also has 15 years’ worth of experience offering software to help manufacturers facilitate those processes. DEX software runs in conjunction with Oracle’s E-Business Suite.

Diebold maintains a workforce of 17,000 with representation in more than 90 countries around the world. It is based in Canton, OH.
