Lean-minded manufacturers in the northeastern United States may want to check their schedules for October, as the two-day 2008 Northeast Shingo Prize Conference kicks off in Boston on Oct. 15.
Sessions will include Jerry Bussell of Medtronic delivering a keynote on "Community-Wide Lean"; Raytheon's Steve Estes offering his perspective on "Taking Lean out to the Supply Base"; and Ross Robson, former president of the Shingo Prize board of governors, weighing "Process-Centric Leadership vs. People-Centric Leadership." Other tracts include discussions on getting lean buy-in from a parent company, implementing "lean-to-green" on the shop floor, and Autoliv's experience with Yokoten, or knowledge sharing.
The conference will culminate on Oct. 16 with a dinner to recognize the 2008 Northeast Shingo prizewinners.
