Enterprise applications leader SAP this week released a new version of its StreamWork collaboration tool tailored to broad enterprise use.
The StreamWork application, which debuted in March of this year as a cloud computing-based collaboration tool for small and midsize businesses, now comes in an enterprise edition featuring Novell security technology and application integration tools.
The StreamWork collaborative tool is best used to facilitate otherwise unstructured decision processes, including budgeting, strategizing, and new-product ideation, said Holly Simmons, marketing manager for StreamWork, in a briefing with Managing Automation. With the enterprise edition, customers can integrate data streams from enterprise applications. The initial release features pre-built integration with SAP CRM, SAP PLM, and SAP BusinessObjects Strategy Management. Other systems can be integrated using StreamWork’s APIs.
An enterprise agent created by Novell helps facilitate the application connections and the security provisioning governing activity on the system. The agent is a software appliance that leverages Novell’s SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and SUSE Appliance Toolkit, and sits behind a customer’s firewall.
