In separate announcements, Wonderware and Transpara Corp. said they are using Microsoft technologies to bring business information and reporting functionality to an increasingly mobile workforce.
Wonderware said future releases of its mobile workforce and decision support system software, IntelaTrac, will be compatible with several of Microsoft’s .NET Framework 3.0 capabilities. For example, future IntelaTrac products will feature Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), a graphical system that uses XAML markup language.
“We expect that the clean separation between the user interface and business logic that WPF supports will greatly increase Wonderware software development productivity,” said John Madden, director of product development for Wonderware Mobile Solutions, in a prepared statement. "In addition, we believe that the commonality between Microsoft WPF and Silverlight technologies should enable Wonderware to more easily extend some desktop experiences to the Web and mobile clients."
Also, Wonderware plans to replace its custom reporting solution with connectivity to Microsoft’s SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), a server-based report generation software system that can be used to prepare and deliver interactive and printed reports over the Internet.
