Aspen Technology Inc. has released a new version of its aspenONE application suite for process manufacturers, which uses the latest Microsoft technologies to simplify software rollout and management.
The aspenONE suite includes process engineering, planning and scheduling, advanced process control, supply and distribution, and production management and execution. Version 2006.5, announced this week, integrates with Windows Vista, Microsoft Office Excel, and SoftGrid Application Virtualization. This builds on aspenONE's earlier support of Microsoft's .NET framework, Office SharePoint Server, and SQL Server.
Now, the entire suite is Windows Vista-compliant, supporting customer migrations to the new desktop. In addition, new technology capabilities in version 2006.5 enable the aspenONE Process Engineering application to leverage the Application Virtualization engine to centrally manage virtual services delivered on-demand. Engineering applications can be installed once — rather than per desktop — allowing rapid deployment to groups. Virtualization also lets different versions of the same application run concurrently.
