Apprion, a maker of industrial wireless networking systems, has expanded its suite of condition monitoring applications with the addition of a product that is said to remotely and continuously monitor a tank's liquid levels, vapor pressure, temperature, hazardous conditions, and standing water.

The ION Tank Gauging application captures and interprets data from single or multiple tanks in a facility. Sensor devices from third-party vendors installed in the tanks can communicate with Apprion's open-protocol ION wireless infrastructure, the company said; the infrastructure integrates and transmits myriad data points into one central Web-based dashboard.

Apprion's ION System framework includes industrial network appliances; network infrastructure management and security technology; asset location; communications, condition monitoring, and video applications. ION streams real-time intelligence from all of these applications into a common dashboard view for plant operators.

Now, with the tank-gauging application, the ION System not only provides a window into tank levels, but it also combines the tank information with data from other safety, security, compliance, and operational applications. According to the company, automated alerts deliver immediate notification of tank levels before overflows or hazardous pressure situations occur. Two backhaul data paths meet compliance requirements, and reporting capabilities provide historical information to help identify long-term trends.
