Enterprise Applications provider Infor revealed late Thursday that Bruce Richardson, chief research officer at AMR Research, will join the company as its new chief strategy officer.
Richardson, who joined AMR in 1988, leaves the research company following the Dec. 1 announcement of its acquisition by Gartner Inc. for $64 million in cash. Infor said Richardson will report directly to Chairman and CEO Jim Schaper.
In addition to his role at Infor, Richardson will act as a strategic advisor to Golden Gate Capital, Infor’s largest shareholder, the company said.
Infor is locked in a fierce competitive battle with larger enterprise software providers SAP and Oracle. The move to hire Richardson could bolster the company’s credibility, particularly among large customers. At AMR, Richardson covered an array of technologies including ERP, SCM, cloud computing, service-oriented architecture tools, and software-as-a-service.
