Servers offer users choice of operating systems.
Oct 10 2007- Running on Solaris(TM), Windows, Linux, or VMware, 4-socket Sun Fire X4450 is powered by Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® 7300 processor and comes in 2U form factor, while 2-socket Sun Fire X4150 is powered by Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® 5300 processor and features 1U form factor. With more than 1 TB of internal disk storage, X4150 is suited for horizontal database and other disk-intensive applications.

Blade Server supports quad-core processors.
Sep 25 2007- Sun Blade X8440 Server Module is available with dual-core AMD Opteron Model 8222 processors (3.0 GHz), and is scheduled to be available with quad-core AMD Opteron 8300 Series processors by end of year. It provides up to 128 GB of memory per blade, 6 PCI Express interfaces per server module, and 192 Gbps I/O throughput per blade. Blade server supports Dual Dynamic Power Management(TM) technology, which allows cores and memory controllers to operate on different voltages, determined by usage.

Virtual Tape Library provides 24 TB capacity in 4U unit.

It helps simplify storage management with single user interface and works with ZFS to eliminate volume management.

Blade Server supports microprocessors of Sun, Intel, and AMD.
Jul 25 2007- Sun Blade(TM) 6000 Modular System offers blades powered by UltraSPARC® T1 processor, Intel® Xeon® processors, or AMD Opteron(TM) processors, allowing users to deploy range of applications such as virtualization, database, web tier, and HPC on single common modular design. Supporting Solaris(TM), Windows, and Linux operating systems, it includes Sun Blade 10 RU chassis, Sun Blade T6300(TM) Server Module, Sun Blade X6250 server module, and Sun Blade(TM) X6220 Server Module.

Data Server targets communications service providers.
Jun 28 2007- Sun Secure Data Retrieval Server (SDRS) helps communications service providers address EU Data Retention Directive requirements. Designed as plug-and-comply appliance solution, Solaris-based server is powered by Live Archive technology and addresses secure retention and life cycle of communications data as well as business processes by which data is retrieved and disclosed. It is based on Sun Fire(TM) X4500, which provides up to 24 TB in 7 in. rack space.

IDE Software facilitates GUI building process.
Jun 1 2007- NetBeans v6.0 IDE Preview release extends support beyond Java and C/C++ by providing set of features for Ruby and JavaScript dynamic scripting languages. It also works with NetBeans GUI Builder, with full support for desktop technologies such as Beans Binding and Swing Application Framework. JRuby is included with NetBeans Ruby support, allowing developers to use Ruby on Rails with existing Java code. Other features include code editing, inspection, and navigation capabilities.

Video over IP Platform is designed for high throughput.
May 25 2007- Sun(TM) Streaming System lets cable and telecommunications operators offer new video-based services and personalized, unique video streams to their consumers. Leveraging Solaris(TM) 10 OS, system works with existing optical network infrastructure and supports up to 160,000 simultaneous, unique video streams at rates to 2 Mbps. Scalable video delivery platform is composed of distributed software suite running on Sun Fire(TM) x64 systems, storage, and switching technologies.

SPARC Servers were co-developed by Sun and Fujitsu.
May 11 2007- Based on SPARC® architecture, SPARC Enterprise servers contain mainframe-class RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) features such as hot-swappable components, redundant hardware, instruction retry, memory mirroring, and diagnostic and healing capabilities. Six-model series includes entry models using UltraSPARC(TM) T1 processor, and mid- to high-range models with SPARC64 VI processor. Units are compatible with PRIMEPOWER or Sun Fire(TM) servers.

Rack Server is powered by AMD Opteron(TM) processor.
Apr 16 2007- Based on Fire(TM) X4200, Netra(TM) X4200 M2 server supports Solaris(TM) 10 OS, Red Hat and SUSE Linux, and Windows operating systems. Available in 2U, 20 in. package, NEBS Level 3 certified rack server offers up to four, 146 Gb SAS drives and up to 32 Gb of memory. It can be used to create solutions such as media servers, VoIP, signaling gateway controllers, element management systems, network traffic analysis systems, operation management systems, and data management systems.
