Ask the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Expert: Scheduling Assistance
Asked on Nov 28 2007 12:33:13:000PM | Q | Dear Mr. Amann,
What do you think about the replacement of 2D drawings by 3D models for product assembly/manufacturing?
Thank you, Andre Iguti, SJC, NA |
| A | Many companies are migrating to full definition using 3D models and assemblies for all engineering, assembly, and manufacturing. They do not create 2D drawings unless necessary. 2D drawings can not contain all of the information that a 3D model/assembly can convey and hold. This can include both design and manufacturing information. We see a continual migration to the use of 3D models and assemblies and a decrease in the use of 2D drawings. |
