Rapid RFID emersion

Asked on May 11 2005 8:52:27:000AM

Q

We are currently a network intergrator and have been asked to get involved with RFID from one of our software vendors. Where we be a good place to start and learn about RFID? Thanks.

As indicated in our inaugural column, crafting the business case and value proposition for launching any new technology initiative is fundamental to downstream success. A key component of the process is clear definition of the application for which the technology is intended, technical performance requirements and expected results; e.g., why and for what application(s) is your software asking you to investigate RFID?

RFID may or may not be the best solution for a given application. If it turns out that it is a good fit, you will have the comfort of knowing that you?ve been diligent in assessing the options and selecting the right solution for the requirement. Now, to resources: The following list of organizations, publications (in addition to Managing Automation) and trade shows, though not exhaustive, is a good place to start.
