Ask the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Expert: Scheduling Assistance
Asked on Oct 5 2006 9:46:11:000AM | Q | We just initiated our lean journey and while it is all good, I am a little concerned about the Quality System requirements, (ISO) vs some of what we're doing to eliminate work orders, routings, material ID on individual parts and inspection/test status requirements.
Is there a document/white paper that covers ISO compliance in a lean environment? Mark Banks, Newport, NC |
| A | One of the few non-profit sites that doesn't have any personal agenda is the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center. Check out both the Quality and Six Sigma resource sections. I recommend starting here. There are lots of "white papers" available from consultants who are plowing the Lean Manufacturing field. (Just put "quality management + lean manufacturing" in a search engine and "see what is returned!) They are of widely varying value, require you to register (opening the door for markeing follow-up by the vendor), and are of widely varying utility. |
