RFID South of the Border

Asked on Jan 30 2006 9:59:07:000AM

Q

I would like to get information about RFID standars in Latin America and Case Studies. Where can I find specific information about this technology in Latin America? Thank you. Regards

Gabriela Panzera, Marietta
AGabriela:

Although not as dramatic as in the U.S., European and Asian markets, programs are underway in Latin America, the most notable being those associated with port security. For information, I suggest that your best bet will be to go to the "horse's mouth" -- that is, local organizations charged with moving standards initiatives forward and keeping an eye on developments in their respective countries.

The EPCglobal website lists affiliate organizations in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Click on "Country Contacts" when you reach their home page.

AIM Global also has affiliate organizations in Argentina and Brazil. Finally, and RFID Journal carries occasional articles on activity in Latin America and also offers a buyer's guide listing those companies offering RFID technology in the region (Managing Automation has a similar directory). Hope this helps.
