Ask the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Expert: Scheduling Assistance

Asked on May 4 2006 1:46:52:000PM | Q | We are in the process of implementing SAP at our organization. The struggle we are having is MRP within a design/build custom job shop within the precast concrete product divsion. Do you know of a consultant or expert who may be able to visit with our Core Implementation Team and provide some insight and answer some questions on the MRP functionality and integration with the rest of our SAP ERP system? Darryl Gordon, Lancaster, PA |
| A | As you are experiencing, implementation and integration of new systems can sometimes be challenging. You mentioned being in the design and build of custom products for precast concrete organization, thus your processes and procedures apparently need to integrate with that of the parent division. Integration of any performance enhancing software tools can be trying. It is imperative to map business processes, manufacturing processes, information integration from legacy systems, and communications between disparate systems as a start or an architecture for your integration project. From there you should see the information flow, type of information required, and integration needed which is supported by the SAP system. Without knowing additional information relative to your implementation, I would recommend contacting David Lester, Manufacturing Industry Marketing Director at Deloitte Services whom I am sure can connect you with the right resources in assisting and answering any questions you have. Dave can be reached either by phone (313) 396-3667 or e-mail hlester@deloitte.com |
