  • Small Manufacturer Seeks Track and Trace
Dear Alison: Thank you in advance. We are a small dental implant manufacturer company and we would like to set up a software with bar code readers in order to trace back finished product into components level and vice versa. This would include handling and managing inventory of raw materials and finished goods. Question: Is there any standard software that I can buy? (Non custom software.) Sincerely, Mario
  • Moving From SCADA To MES
We are in the process of expanding our operations and as part of this, are looking at replacing an aging SCADA system. We're looking at all the usual suspects, and are wondering if there's any merit in looking at an MES type application. Our understanding is that MES is expensive and hard to deploy -- are there benefits an MES offers that we can't already get with a SCADA system that has a good UI and analytics?
  • How to Make the ERP to MES Transition
We already have an ERP system in the plant and are evaluating whether we should look at MES to automate shop floor workflows, or whether there's a way to use the ERP system we already own.
