  • Purpose: Access Control & tracking of personnel movement within a site. The software has to sstore & how in & out activity + internal movement for personnel or guests. The system has to store all relevant personnel information + posssibly a certain amount of information on guests as well. No one is to presnet their card. The MAIN goal is reading it a a distance. Description:  Each person attaches at all times a card/tag with relevant information & picture printed on it.  The sitety comprises a large area with open spaces & several buildings.  At the entrance, the card is read & the picture appears on a monitor where a guard compares it with the person’s OR with an instant picture taken as the person enters.  Guests will be provided with temporary passes that allow the same tracking to be achieved.  There are checkpoints indoors & outdoors, where a presence is sensed & the ID is checked for presence + validity... e.g.  If a presence is sensed & no card is found or found & deemed not valid, a proper alarm/notification is triggered.  Additionally a small number of vehicles will have tags allowing them to enter the sitety once the tag is detcted & cleared.  Finally, teh same system may eb applied to more than one site, wher any of the personnel will be allowed to get into any of the sites. Connectio between the sites is not a requirement at this point. We await your SOONEST thoughts & recommendatiosn for the whole solution & its components (as to vendor & specific technology alternatives). Thanking you in advance.
  • RFID & Quality Verification
I have a client that wants to add RFID reader/writers to its RFID label production lines to verify quality. Do you have some companies that could help? Regards,
  • Dog Tracking Application
Dear Mr. Hill, We are trying to use 135 Khz RFID solutions for dog identification in the streets of Budapest. The implanted tags are usually 12mm FDX glass tags. According to our measurements the reading of these tags requires near-contact distance what is quite inconvenient for the personnel. The question is how we can achieve at least 30 cm reading range among practical conditions for the tags above? What are the most influencing parameters of the LF readers determining the reading range? Best thanks in advance. Regards,
  • Personnel Tracking
Do you have any recommendations on how RFID could be used to keep track of personnel coming in and out of a facility? The personnel would not need to be "tracked" within the facility just counted as they enter and exit. The facility has three entrances where I was thinking fixed readers could be installed. The idea is to have RFID tags added to employee badges and captured each time an RFID tag goes past one of the fixed readers. The readers would need to be capable of reading these tags up to a distance of 2 meters. During an emergency exit (i.e. fire drill) these readers would need to process approximately 300 people in a relatively short period of time (5 to 10 minutes). Is RFID technology up to this level of performance and based on the information I have provided could you provide any kind of ball park cost for the RFID hardware and a corresponding software package. For example is this something that could be configured for around 20 Thousand dollars or are we talking more like 200 Thousand dollars? Respectfully,
  • Avoiding RFID Tag Interference
I am wondering how can we avoid the metal interferences (especially steel) when we are using the RFID tag and technology to trace the product?
  • Marrying RFID & GPS
Do you know of any company that's currently working on coupling both GPS and RFID on a single chip (or device)?
  • Tag Life & GPS Integration
Much of my equipment and trailers are stationary for extended lengths of time. Occasionally, when moved, regional managers delay informing my office which leads to confusion, often times hindering my ability to locate available equipment as quickly as I need to. My question is two part: What is the life span of an RFID tag, and will this technology allow me to track equipment, accurately and in real time, across several different states from my central location" Thank you.
  • Secure Education
Dear John, I am looking into RFID as a security solutions in Education. That is using it as a means for asset tracking and monitoring. Have you come accross with any application of this technology in the fashion? Could you refer me to the most likely company that my be able to provide such a solution? Your assistance is very much apprecited. Thank you in advance.
  • Biometric / RFID Cards
Looking to find a RFID tag company that can build a handheld card with biometric and RFID capability. RFID antenna will need to be carbon based ink that can be printed in any design. Can you recommend any manufacturers that are willing to work with a start up?
  • RFID South of the Border
I would like to get information about RFID standars in Latin America and Case Studies. Where can I find specific information about this technology in Latin America? Thank you. Regards
  • What's The Frequency ... John?
Hi sir, I am looking for 2.4GHz transceivers for RFID applications. Is there any transceiver for this type of application? Or, any application notes which are related to this purpose? I want to use the transceiver as the reader of my passive RFID tag. Also, if you have such transceivers, I would also like to know the odering information please
  • Tag Error Tolerances
Dear Sir, We are interested in RFID solutions in our shopping centre but we experienced "tag doesen't read" errors from 70 cm distance. Which solution is better for our application? Best Regards
  • Looking Into RFID
I would like to learn more about RFID applications in Facility Engineering management area. Do you have any information? Or, if you can tell me where to start from?
  • Rapid RFID emersion
We are currently a network intergrator and have been asked to get involved with RFID from one of our software vendors. Where we be a good place to start and learn about RFID? Thanks.
  • Benefits beyond RFID implementation ...
We've looked at RFID and determined that without major warehouse and information system changes, it is simply not going to work for us. Should we move on to something else?
  • Timing is everything
Our company is not a supplier to Wal-Mart, DOD or others requiring RFID tagging. Given the issues I've been reading about, should we even bother to look into RFID?
