  • Beyond BI
Hello Alison, I have been tasked with investigating our options for a manufacturing intelligence system. As a very large Cognos user, we had hoped to extend those applications to the plant. Unfortunatley, it quickly became obvious that none of the BI companies (Cognos included) really had a clue about the plant floor. That narrowed our search to companies like Lighthhamer and Activplant. Many of our customers use Activplant to support CI projects at their assembly plants. Lighthamer claims that Activplant unnecessarily collects data into a data model creating "data redundancy." Frankly, I don't get it. Without data collection and a data model, we really can't get reports, KPIs, etc. that would be of value. Am I missing something? Terry
